Professional Interests

Maisha’s professional interests include individual, group, and couples psychotherapy, clinical training and supervision, and holistic wellness. Her work encompasses the intersections of mental health, culture, social justice, advocacy, and the wide range of minority/intersectional identities. She is very passionate about reducing the stigma of therapy and working with BIPOC communities and clients, first-generation college students, and those who may be hesitant to access mental health services.

Approach to Therapy

Maisha’s approach to therapy is grounded in cognitive-behavioral principles while also incorporating client-centered, interpersonal process, and skills-based interventions based on the client’s needs and goal(s) for therapy. She works to empower her clients to be collaborative in their treatment so that they feel ownership over their goals, progress, and ultimately successes.

Approach to Supervision

Maisha’s approach to supervision is collaborative, supportive, and clinician centered. She encourages supervisees’ use of self in the development and integration of their professional and personal identities.

Approach to Wellness

Maisha has a holistic approach to mindfulness. She believes in work-life balance and that it is critical to find time for joy, rest, and introspection/reflection.

Other Activities

Maisha loves to cook, try new foods/restaurants, travel, read, attend live music events, and engage in various arts & crafts.
