Professional Interests

Dr. Lawrence works with clients who have a wide range of concerns with particular interests in anxiety, sexuality issues, couples therapy, and self-hypnosis.

Approach to Therapy

Dr. Lawrence approaches therapy from a person-centered perspective and uses a wide range of intervention strategies that tend to be based in cognitive theories.  He works to help clients identify, understand, and overcome the obstacles that make it difficult to get what they want in life.

Approach to Supervision

Dr. Lawrence’s style of supervision tends to be therapist-centered.  He feels it is important to be flexible enough to meet his supervisee’s needs at that point in their training.  This may range from strict case management and intervention techniques to interpersonal process discussions.

Approach to Wellness

Dr. Lawrence views wellness as achieving at least a balance between things in life that are relaxing/energizing and things that are stressful/draining (ideally the former outweighs the latter).  Learning to set healthy boundaries is an important part of this process.

Other Activities

Outside of work, Dr. Lawrence enjoys physical activities (exercise, team sports, mountain biking), spending time with family and friends, and FOOTBALL SEASON.
