Professional Interests
Alexis is devoted to working with individuals and couples who face the many challenges involving relational dynamics, identity development, and emotional dysregulation. Alexis is interested in helping clients navigate symptoms related to poor performance, anxiety, stress, or depression, while promoting positive change in enhancing daily lifestyle routines, effective communication patterns, and overall well-being.
Additionally, Alexis is a strong believer in animal-assisted interventions and other creative, art-related approaches to improving mental health. Her hope for all her clients is to address immediate signs and symptoms of distress while collaboratively fostering lasting empowerment, adaptability, and perseverance.
Approach to Therapy
Alexis’s approach to therapy begins with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, as she believes the most meaningful work can be done once trust and an authentic connection are established. Although integrated in nature, Alexis largely follows a client-centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach.
Alexis values these modalities for their strong empirical foundation, lying in identifying and reframing maladaptive cognitions and behaviors, while emphasizing psychological flexibility and a values-based lifestyle. Going beyond the goal of symptom reduction, Alexis is committed to viewing each client holistically, an approach that allows her treatment to be adaptive and responsive to her client's unique culture, background, and personal experiences.
Approach to Supervision
Similarly to her therapeutic work, Alexis places great importance on the supervisory relationship, rooted in trust, mutual respect, and a genuine connection. Alexis takes a flexible and developmental approach in providing support and strives to meet supervisees at their current needs and growth areas. Alexis takes a strengths-based approach to providing feedback, while also valuing supervisee feedback. She views the supervision space as a place to grow clinically, professionally, and personally.
Approach to Wellness
Alexis practices wellness and personally recharges by spending time with family, friends, and her French Bulldog. In her free time, Alexis can be found walking/biking outdoors, creating art, horseback riding, or beachcombing for shells and sharks’ teeth.
