Join the Counseling and Wellness Center AWARE ambassadors as we celebrate UFisAWARE, a week bringing awareness to the importance of student mental health at the University of Florida. This event will be held from March 21st to March 25th, and each day will be filled with exciting activities that students can be a part of. This week, you will get the chance to have important discussions, gain valuable mental health tools, destress and unwind, and have the ability to talk to our wonderful ambassadors that connect you to the mental health resources available at the CWC. Be on the lookout for information regarding where and when to attend our event, and we look forward to seeing you all there!
MONDAY 3/21, 10:00AM – 4:00PM: Healthy Habits
Join us on Monday, March 21st from 10am to 4pm for an exciting day of practicing Healthy Habits! You can stop by anytime to decorate your own dream journal, with supplies provided by the CWC. Additionally, we are partnering with Gatorwell to give you important information regarding healthy sleep habits, and on top of that SKY will be offering introductory yoga sessions from 2:30 to 3 and from 3 to 3:30 PM so you can get some gentle movement between classes (We recommend you bring your own mat/blanket/towel for the yoga sessions, as there will be a limited supply!) Can’t wait to ZZZ you there!

TUESDAY 3/22, 4:30-6:00PM: Multicultural Mental Health
Join us and celebrate Multicultural Mental Health as part of UFisAWARE week. Along with the Black Student Union, Asian American Student Union, Club Creole, and the Disability Resource Center Ambassadors, we intend to discuss the importance of our unique identities and backgrounds and how this relates to our mental health. We invite students to join in this discussion around multicultural mental health, and to bring their own questions/experiences around the topic to this event. WEDNESDAY 3/23, 11:00AM – 2:00PM: Keep Growing
Growth is an important part of development, and Wednesday, March 23rd from 11:00am-2:00pm we’ll be celebrating that growth. Join us and Wilmot Gardens in the Reitz North Lawn for the opportunity to decorate your own plant pot, and receive a seed to start growing your very own plant! You will also be able to decorate a message vine, and write an inspiring message about mental health on your own green flags, which will be placed in the ground to symbolize our collective experience. Come on out so we can grow together at this exciting event!

THURSDAY 3/24, 5:00PM – 6:30PM: Coping Mechanisms
Join us Thursday, March 24th to learn some valuable mindfulness and positive psychology skills. This event will take place over Zoom from 5:00-6:30pm. We will be joined by Gatorwell and Dr. Ron Chandler, a professor who teaches positive psychology at UF, to learn some valuable mental health skills, such as mindfulness and gratitude letters.

FRIDAY 3/25, 2:30 – 6:30PM: Tie-Dye Fri-Dye
We intend to close out the week strong with our Friday, March 25th event, which will feature crafts galore! Meet us in the Plaza of the Americas anytime from 2:30-6:30pm to do activities that get your creative juices flowing such as tye-dye, glitter jars, rock painting, and coloring pages. We will also be doing round robin painting, where a group works together to create a painting, one person adding an element and then passing the canvas along to the next. The first 100 people to show up will receive their very own UFisAWARE shirt to tie-dye! You are also welcome to bring your own tie-dye items if you have white, 100% cotton items that you would like to customize!

REMEMBER: though UFisAWARE week may be coming to a close, the Counseling and Wellness Center is here year-round to offer you resources for your mental health. Mental health is health and UF is AWARE!
