The Counseling & Wellness Center is excited to collaborate with partners across campus to help bring this year’s International Education Week to the UF community. We are working with UF Graduate & Family Housing, UF International Center, and Student Legal Services as well as UF GIFT, a cross-department CWC initiative to support international students.

Relocating to a different country is a significant life event. Navigate your experiences in crossing cultural boundaries can be exciting, challenging, and confusing. We invite you to this discussion space to share your voice, understand common concerns, and learn about coping strategies.
Tuesday, 11/17, 10am-12pm
This workshop will focus on international student’s issues. Sponsored by UF Student Legal Services, UF Gator International Focus Team (UFGIFT), and the UF International Center. More information will be announced soon.
International Tea Time: Holidays and Traditions
Wednesday, 11/18, 5:30-6:45pm
There are many holidays/traditions celebrated at the end (e.g. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Black Friday) and beginning (e.g. Super Bowl, March Madness) of the year in the US. Do you have curiosities about these traditions/holidays? Are you interested in learning holidays/traditions other cultures celebrate? We invite you to also share with us the meaningful holidays you celebrate/observe. Join us!
Let Your Voice Be Heard
Thursday, 11/19, 6:00-7:15pm
The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly changed all aspects of our lives—the way we connect with others, how we take care of ourselves, the method of learning and the concept of school, how we live our lives, and so on. For international students, the travel restriction and requirements to maintain visa status impose another layer of stress. While UF can’t change the federal regulations governing these programs, we can help you to understand how these might affect your decisions. We want to hear from you how UF can better support you in this unprecedented, difficult time. Your voice carries weight and may lead to concrete change.
Share Your Resilience Success Stories
Friday, 11/20, 6:00-7:15pm
In the face of adversity brought about by COVID-19 and other upheavals in the broader social context, our international students still manage to strive either in the US or in their home countries. We invite you to come share with us your stories of navigating all kind of challenges as an international student, whether it be emotional, academic, social, financial, etc. Your stories can lift others up, empower your sense of self, and cultivate hope.
