Professional Interests

Lisa Buning is a trained Emotionally Focused (Dr. Sue Johnson) Couples Therapist. She specializes in providing couples therapy and supporting individuals as they navigate relationships/systems (friendship, family, romantic partnership). Her other professional interests include LGBTQ+ concerns, the power of nature in healing, and self-compassion.

Approach to Therapy

Lisa is inspired by the following approaches to therapy, and each inform her work: Emotionally Focused Therapy (Dr. Sue Johnson), attachment-oriented therapies, Internal Family Systems, relational cultural theory, humanism and self-compassionate approaches to therapy.

Approach to Wellness

Lisa aims to not take herself too seriously. She believes laughter really is one of the best medicines. Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the movies, spending time in nature, and travel.

Other Activities

Lisa is passionate about her administrative responsibilities at the CWC and works to take care of processes and procedures to enhance student and staff experience at the CWC.
