Professional Interests

My professional interests include identity development, self-compassion and self-empowerment, multicultural concerns-cultural trauma, working with Middle Eastern and South Asian populations, destigmatizing mental health, outreach/prevention, and supervision/training.

Approach to Therapy

I am passionate about how stories shape who we are and how we navigate the world, specifically how experiences of disempowerment and disconnection impact view of self and others. I believe our identities (e.g., gender, sexuality, racial/ethnic) deeply impact our stories, so I enjoy working with students on their identity development. I use a strengths-based approach to help students identify strengths and increase self-confidence, self-compassion, and self-acceptance. I truly believe that a warm, genuine, and supportive therapeutic relationship is essential to helping students feel empowered and connected to self and others. If I am your counselor, I look forward to the honor of hearing your story and helping you navigate your path at UF.

Approach to Supervision

I use a developmental model of supervision that allows for a tailored approach to meet supervisees’ clinical and professional needs. I believe the foundation of good supervision is a strong alliance between supervisor-supervisee. I strive to provide a warm, authentic, empathically challenging, and culturally-sensitive environment where a supervisee can embrace both their strengths and growth edges. I value transparency and on-going feedback and work with supervisees to fine-tune supervision so it best fits their needs.

Approach to Wellness

My approach to wellness is to engage daily in activities that are meaningful to me, allowing me to replenish my energy. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading novels (mysteries are my favorite!), puzzling, traveling, baking, meditation and fitness, and of course, Netflix!
