Licensed Mental Health Counselor
PhD in Counseling and Counselor Education – Mental Health Counseling from the University of Florida
My professional interests include creativity in counseling, counselor development, and issues related to: family of origin, gender, graduate student experiences, and crisis and trauma.
Approach to Therapy
My approach is based in a warm, accepting therapeutic relationship, and slowing down together to recognize and care for your needs. I help clients develop practical solutions to immediate problems, while also gently exploring past hurts to heal at a deeper level. My approach is flexible, and I blend in creative, mindful, and embodied techniques to best suit each person.
Approach to Supervision
I supervise from a clinician- and client-centered perspective that emphasizes a warm supervisory relationship and the needs of the counselor and client. I emphasize theory development and its connections to practice, and adapt my role throughout the work (discrimination model).
Approach to Wellness
My personal wellness is supported by the arts: reading, dance, playing and listening to music, making art, and sewing. I also recharge with gardening and visiting new places with my husband, especially hiking trips.
