Nicole K. Karcinski, DNP, ARNP-BC
Nicole is a Board-Certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from The University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003, from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) in 2007 with a Master of Science in Nursing, and from The University of Florida in 2016 as a Doctor of Nursing Practice. While studying at UF Nicole was recognized for her academic achievement and dedication to patient care as the recipient of the Catherine Bell Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Nursing.
Nicole has worked in a variety of agency settings including inpatient psychiatry at UF and UNC-CH; partial-hospitalization and intensive outpatient at UNC-CH; private practice in Chapel Hill and Raleigh, NC; and college/student mental health at UF. Nicole’s areas of interest & specialization include Eating Disorders, Gender and Sexual Minorities, Sport/Athletic Mental Health, and Trauma. Campus-wide, she is the psychiatry representative for the Transgender Resource Network.
In addition to medication management, Nicole enjoys conducting therapy and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Nicole’s style of therapeutic engagement is rooted in interpersonal, psychodynamic and humanistic theory, as well as in the concepts of strength, resiliency and self-acceptance.
