Professional Interests

Cherie enjoys working with students from diverse backgrounds and with anyone who is motivated to engage in self-exploration. Some of the issues she most enjoys working with include: family and relationship concerns, trauma, grief and loss, and anxiety. Her research experience has focused on mindfulness and career counseling.  

Approach to Therapy

Cherie takes a humanistic approach to therapy which assumes that people are self-motivated to grow and expand. Her work focuses on relationship factors and she believes that a supportive therapist-client relationship is key to a positive therapeutic outcome. She also draws heavily from a multicultural perspective that takes into account the social and cultural background of her clients.

Approach to Wellness

Cherie enjoys spending time being physically active and out in nature; playing tennis, kayaking, and spending time at the beach are some of her favorite outdoor activities. She also enjoys talking with friends, reading, practicing yoga, and doing crafts.
